We’ve had a stressful couple of years and it’s been more important than ever that I stay healthy as the major caregiver for my teenager. With all the time spent at the hospital and doctors and our ever-changing schedule, it hasn’t been easy to get exercise in or eat as well as I’d like. Still, I’ve managed to take steps to ensure that I stay healthy and so far (knock on wood) they’ve worked. Every little thing counts.
To make sure that I’m getting enough fruits and vegetables (it’s so easy to got through a drive through), I start each day with a smoothie that includes green powder. While I didn’t like the taste at first, I’ve finally found the right blend with bananas and strawberries. I’m also getting calcium with the almond milk. So important.
I’ve also carved time out of my day to walk on the treadmill, even though I think it’s super boring (now that the weather’s nice, I’ll be able to get outside more). Staying active is not only great to maintain health, it’s important to alleviate stress. I’m hoping to get my tennis racquet re-strung and hit the tennis court. Fresh air and pounding little yellow balls will do me a world of good.
Also important? Meal planning. I sit down on Sunday night and map out the entire week, including the nights we’ll eat leftovers. With every meal planned, it makes it easier to stay the course on eating healthy and be sure to have the right balance of lean protein, fruits and veggies. All the needed nutrients for good health.
Also pivotal to staying healthy? Taking the right supplements. I picked up some Nature Made Vitamins at Target because they’re the #1 recommended brand by pharmacists and a great fit to help me reach my health goals. The Energy B-12 gummies not only taste great, they support cellular energy production because B-12 works on a cellular basis.† Unlike caffeine, it doesn’t give you an immediate boost of energy. And, honestly, I’ve been tired the past two years and can take all the help I can get.
I trust Nature Made because they are committed to overall wellness. They’ve partnered with Women’s and Men’s Health for the Nature Made One-Up Your Health Facebook Weekly Motivation and Sweepstakes. Now through April 9th, when you visit the Nature Made Facebook page you’ll see a tip to keep you motivated. Answer the call to action and you’ll be entered to win the prize in the post. You’ll get the chance to win prizes from Blue Apron, Lululemon and Sephora gift cards as well as a FitBit and a one-year membership to Nature Box! Also running until April 9th? The sweepstakes to win a spa vacation to the Red Mountain Resort in Ivans, UT. You can enter that here.
I’m committed to staying healthy not only because my teen needs me, I plan to live a long life and every step counts. Diet, exercise and the stress management all play an important role (and honestly, I need to do a better job of treating myself to a massage every once in a while). Nature Made vitamins also play an important role in my overall wellness. You’ll want to check them out.
