Last week, I stumbled across an awesome new product that I know my teen will love (when she can eat again. She’s been in the hospital) and I know yours will too. Yoplait Go Big is not only sized for a teen, they’ll love the big taste. And, it contains real fruit, has no artificial colors and it’s a good source of calcium. It’s amazing.
To celebrate the launch, Go Big is challenging parents of amazing teens to write a letter to them to share why you think they’re awesome and how they inspire you. If you’re up for the task, there’s a contest involved. I thought I’d share mine with you.
Dear Jaiden Rose,
I sat down to write this letter and realized that while I talk about how incredible you are every day on my blog, I may not tell you exactly how I feel. I think it’s important for you to hear in my own words how amazing you are. You truly inspire me (and others) every single day and I think it’s important for you to know. Especially right now when you’re sitting frustrated in the hospital.
I’ve never in my life met anybody quite like you. It doesn’t matter what life throws at you, you face everything head on with strength, grace and charm. Despite the fact that life has handed you one difficult situation after another, you’ve adapted and adjusted to everything with a smile on your face and a sense of humor. I don’t know a lot of teenagers that could do that. I am so incredibly proud of you- your strength, your resolve and your incredibly kind spirit.
Your desire to talk about your invisible illnesses and help others really sets you apart. Instead of focusing solely on you, you’ve consistently put others first. The compassion you show for other ill children is unparalleled. You have a kind and generous soul and it shows.
I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am to be your mother. I beam with joy at the fact that you want to do the Miss Teen Kansas USA pageant to be able to bring awareness to chronic illness and disability. You’ve never let illness define you or hold you back and that’s an important message for others to hear. I think this makes you an inspiration to many teens and adults who need a little pep talk because their lives aren’t easy just like yours.
Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t say, I think you are absolutely gorgeous, but to me it’s not your outside beauty that makes it so. It’s what’s inside that makes you so fiercely attractive. You have that fiery red hair for a reason. It suits you. You are not only rare in every sense of the word. You’re a fighter.
I love you my dear with all my heart and soul,
Mama
I bet your teen is amazing too. Why not let Go Big spotlight that amazingness? For a chance to win the spotlight for your teen, go to the Go Big Amazing Teens contest page and share how your teen inspires you. Go Big will select three teens with amazing stories and give them a platform to show the world! For more information, full contest rules can be found on the Go Big Facebook Page.

I do not know your daughter–I only know her grandmother, but I feel I’ve come to know her through your amazing blog, Deb. Your daughter is an inspiration to all who know her, and even those who don’t. This beautiful letter you wrote is so filled with emotion and love. I hope and pray that Jaiden gets well real soon and that some day I will have the opportunity to meet her in person and tell her what an incredible young woman she is and that her family is so blessed to have her in their lives and that she is lucky to have them also in hers.
