Thanks to Chinet for sponsoring today’s discussion. As always, the opinions are my own.
A long time ago in a far away land, you actually had to get face-to-face with someone for social occasions. I actually remember the days before cell phones (yes, I’m that old) when social media wasn’t even a glimmer in someone’s eye. If you wanted to be social, you got together with friends. There wasn’t another option and honestly, it was awesome.
Today, I don’t have to leave the computer to be social. Since I’ve been home with a sick child, it’s been convenient because I feel like I’m still connected. In fact, I’ve had people swear they’ve had a cup of coffee with me in the past year when we’ve only had a virtual one. Still, social media can’t take the place of a good old-fashioned girl’s night.
I had one at my home just this week. We laughed, cried (yes, we’re chicks) and it was probably one of the best times we’ve all had in a long time. While we talk on social media all the time, nothing can take the place of sitting around a table with good friends, food and yes, wine. It was an epic night.
Ever thought about what life would be like if we actually interacted with our friends in person like we do online? My friends at Chinet have. See for yourself.
Now it pays to #BeSocial. Now through July 31st, if you share the It Pays to be Social video you’ll be registered to win a $250 gift card and a Chinet prize pack to jump-start your next gathering with friends. You can find all the details and official rules here.
As for me, I’m going to make a better effort to see friends in real life. This week’s girl’s night was a blast. Time to plan another!
How do you stay social with your friends?
