I’d like to thank you for putting the fear of God in my family for over three weeks. There’s nothing like saying the words “rule out cancer” followed by “we’re sending you to a surgeon” to make a family panic. The stress was quite delightful with the nightmares and lack of sleep.
So, yesterday at the surgery appointment, we were quite amazed when the doctor told us that Rosie’s “lymph nodes were not that impressive” especially since had a couple months of pain that YOU attributed to the swollen nodes. In fact, he didn’t seem to think they were that enlarged. You could imagine the shock on my face since we were told “they may have to be removed” during our visit with you. While I was relieved that my child would not have surgery, I was a little perplexed. What was wrong?
After asking a few questions and an exam, the surgeon concluded that Rosie has a possible groin pull and referred us to the Sports Injury clinic. Now, call me crazy but for a child that dances six days a week, I would think you might have considered that my child had a potential sports injury before jumping on the possible lymphoma bandwagon. And, yes during that time she did have a couple of viruses, an infection and low energy but if you had just taken the time to poke around, you would’ve discovered that part of where she had pain HAD NO LYMPH NODES. Needless to say, I’m a little pissed off right now (and I would tell you that to your face but I kind of feel like punching you and don’t really want to go to jail).
We’ll be finding a new doctor in the near future, but for now, I’d just like to give you a little advice. I know that being a doctor sucks and you probably have to keep visits short to make any dough but I don’t care. Our three weeks of panic were caused by you not taking the time to ask all the relevant questions and do a thorough exam. I don’t have a medical degree, so I have to rely on you to tell me what’s wrong with my kid. In the future, please take the time to do your due diligence BEFORE you completely freak out another family.
P.S. You can go Eff yourself too for all the drama this injury is going to cause since Rosie didn’t get proper treatment and won’t be able to dance.
