Today is middle school enrollment and while I am looking forward to Rosie going back to school so I can get a ton more work done (being self-employed is a double-edged sword), I am not ready for school to actually start. The summer flew by which shocked me because I thought it would drag on and on with no camps. Our Tween Summer Challenge feels like it’s only half-way done (I am a slacker. I still have posts to put up). And, yet, it’s time for me to start thinking about back to school. Eeek!
Rosie is starting 7th grade. I’m not quite sure how I feel about that. On one hand, I enjoy the fact that we are able to hang out, have real conversations and enjoy each other’s company (most of the time). On the other hand, I know that this year will be full of milestones. It will be her first year on the middle school dance team and she’ll make lots of new friends. We’re transitioning to a new studio and going back to compete (don’t even get me started on that. I don’t know how much hairspray I can inhale and glitter I can take, but at least it will make for an interesting read. You can read my favorite competition experience here). And, she will be a teenager. OMG!
In the upcoming weeks, we’ll be sharing our back to school experiences with you (along with those of a few other bloggers). This Fall for us will be different- we no longer need a brand-new box of crayons to begin the year-we need more grown-up stuff. So we plan to share the middle school stuff with all of you (minus the angst of course).
Soon it will be time to decorate the locker (did you know you can buy a chandelier?) and plan the first week’s clothes (oh, I long for the days when I could buy one brand new Gymboree outfit for pictures). But for now, we still have a couple of weeks of summer, so we’ll toggle back and forth. Look out moms, we have more adventures to come!
I can’t believe that the kids will be returning back to school in a few weeks. Where has the summer gone.
