Say hello to Piper!
Wednesday, we drove to Iola, KS to pick up a hedgehog for Rosie. She's wanted one for a while, so she did all her research and found a breeder close to where we live. Since its spring break, we took a short road trip and picked up this adorable little girl that she named Piper.
I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive about getting another pet. We have a full house with our two adopted dogs and Rosie's pup Toby. We also have a hamster that needs to find a new home. And, then there's the small problem that we've had countless fish, frogs, crabs and a couple of rats die over the course of the past few years. But Rosie was determined to have a hedgie and she's old enough to take on all the responsibility so I caved.
As you can see, Toby was eager to meet her and honestly, she wanted nothing to do with him. In fact, he got a couple of quills in his nose. But, for the most part, she's adjusting quite nicely to life at the CB home. She's had a couple of baths, eaten a little applesauce and taken a few runs on her wheel.
Piper isn't sure about all the other animals (she's hissed at them) or the people who live here, but she does love Rosie. She crawls all over her and has even taken an exploratory trip into her hair. I think that they're going to be grand friends and I'm starting to think that a hedgehog is a pretty good pet. They're actually pretty clean and as you can see, she's really cute.
