Sweetheart Crush Martini. Sounds perfect for Valentine's Day doesn't it? I asked my hubby to come up with another perfect martini to share with the one you love next month and he came up with a refreshing, delicious concoction.
For those of you that don't know, my husband worked in the restaurant business for 30 years and has lots of experience creating recipes. He also has extensive bartending knowledge. Cocktails are definitely something I want to feature more often on my blog, but since I only drink wine (except for the occasional martini on a girl's night) I'm not good at coming up with them. He is, so guess what? He has a new job. I've now dubbed him the Mixologist of It's me, debcb! Get ready to see more libations in the weeks to come. I already have him working on more.
Flavored vodkas have been hot the past few years (I'm so old, I can remember when Absolut Citron was the only option). Now, you can get almost any flavor you like at the store, so if you're a vodka tonic or vodka soda drinker, you can add a little twist to your drink without adding calories. Did you know you can get Peanut Butter and Jelly flavored vodka? Vodka is also super versatile, which is why it's perfect for a martini.
This one uses cherry vodka. With the cranberry and pineapple juice, it's a fruity combination that tastes awesome and it's easy to make with ingredients that you probably have on hand. It's also not too sweet (if you don't eat the red sugar rim). I think it's the perfect cocktail to celebrate Valentine's Day with your loved one. Don't have a beau this holiday? No worries. Have your girlfriends over. They'll love it!
