Bah humbug. There, I said it. Out loud.
I’ve been trying to get excited about Christmas but it’s just not happening (for the record, I did get my home decorated but that was about it). I’ve got a bad case of the Bah Humbug’s and it took me a little while to put my finger on what was wrong. Here are the ten things that just happened to give it away.
#10 I haven’t listened to a single Christmas carol. Despite the fact that holiday music has been on the radio since October, it’s never played in my car. And, last night at Rosie’s concert during the sing-along, I think I rolled my eyes. Bad.
#9 I’ve made no dinner plans. We got a free ham with our turkey for Thanksgiving so the good news is, we’ll have a main dish. The bad news? Well, the pig’s the only thing on the menu. Except for Chinese on Christmas Eve.
#8 I ran out of perfume. And, I really don’t care because I don’t feel the need to party. (However, I’ve never run out of perfume in my life so I think that may be a sign that I have a bigger problem than I think.)
#7 The teacher gifts are in bags with no tissue. It’s a good thing I bought them months ago. I’m starting to wonder if I stuff them with toilet paper if anyone will notice.
#6 The K-man hasn’t asked me to pick up gifts for work and I haven’t volunteered. This could be disastrous yet oddly, I’m not concerned.
#5 I found the stuff I bought to make a wreath yesterday and put it in the craft closet. It’s in safe place for a year when I have a little Ho Ho Ho in my step.
#4 Nothing is wrapped. By now, I’ve usually pulled out the paper and made my own bows. I’m hoping there are some gift bags hidden somewhere because time’s running out.
#3 There’s someone knocking at the door. I’m staying here in the basement. I think they’ll go away.
#2 Christmas letter? What’s that? It’s not written (at least I ordered the cards. They’re really pretty. I may scan one in so everyone sees it before Christmas).
#1 Bieber is sitting on a pile of bills on my printer.Upside down. He never got on the house. Thank God my kid is too old for an elf. I would’ve failed her miserably.
Anyone else have a case of the holiday blues?
Yep. Every year.
I haven’t even gotten the teacher gifts yet. It’ll probably be done very last minute Thursday at 10:30 after my paycheck hits my account. The cards are sitting in a drawer, addressed but not stamped. Just not feeling festive at all this year.
